Frequently Asked Questions Regarding Use Cases

Q: What is the Use Cases?

A use case is a real world definition of how a defined capability in Linux would be used or deployed.

Q: Why is a Use Cases needed?

Use cases are used to further define the capabilities which are defined in initiative specifications that have perceived gaps (not currently available or sufficient in a mainline implementation). These use cases can be used to justify the capability within the open source community or to help developers to implement the capability to satify the specified use case. Special Interest Groups (SIGs) may leverage use cases to develop profiles or implementations of these capabilities.
