Minutes for Cluster SIG conference call March 3, 2005 Attendees: Daniel McNeil, OSDL Mark Haverkamp, OSDL John Cherry, OSDL Steve Dake, Montavista Bruce Walker, HP Kevin Fox, Sun Dave Lombard, Intel Lars Marowsky-Brée, Suse Patrick Caulfield, Redhat Geoffroy Vallee, ORNL / INRIA / EDF Kerringhed / SSI-OSCAR I think I missed writing down someone from the call. If I missed you and you let me know, I'll add you to the list posted on the web site. Bruce Walker is working on getting multiple projects to support his kernel hooks for cluster wide processes so that he can show at least 3 project using the hooks when submitting the patches to LKML. Bruce is still looking for patch feedback. He got some feedback at Linux World about the number of functions, heterogeneous support, and some comments about the /proc interface. We also talked about the membership requirements and the membership events that are needed. Good discussion on various requirements and on Bruce's membership discussion paper. Generally agreed that we need a membership events in the kernel and in user space and we need the various kinds of events (for example, joining verses joined) so various cluster services and applications know when it is safe to start up or allow cluster wide operation. Discussion included CMAN's service manager and HA's resource management. It would be good if someone proposed an API as a starting point for membership events. Any takers?
