Clusters SIG Events of Interest

BOF 1 - Bruce J. Walker (bruce.walker@hp.com) and Daniel Phillips (phillips@redhat.com)

Cluster filesystems, single system image clusters and fault-tolerant cluster application require support from several components including membership, communication, global locking, and cluster-wide process management. The goal of the discussion is to bring together requirements, existing technologies, proposed kernel components, kernel interfaces and userspace library interfaces in order to allow the construction of many different forms of clusters on top of a standard Linux kernel.

BOF 2 - Alan L Robertson (alanr@unix.sh)

Release 2 of Linux-HA is a huge increment of capability over the release 1 system, and by the end of July will have been production grade for a few months.

This release provides capabilities for large clusters, for resource monitoring, for sophisticated resource dependency models, and for integration with cluster filesystems like Red Hat's GFS, and Oracle's OCFS2.

This BOF will give the community the opportunity to provide feedback on the new release to the development team, and for this team to discuss the new release with the community, resulting in a productive exchange of ideas and information.
